Hello--
Another tech question (i've probably spent more time on the Tech threads in just 2 days than i have in the last 2 yrs!)

Anyway, i am hoping this has an obvoius answer but i have yet to figure it out. I have finally discovered the magic of splitting files via markers and batch processing. Awesome time saver. Can't believe i waited so long to do that.

So my question: If I have one long file, which i save as an .aif, & separate by markers, and then I split it up into separate files, is there a way to save them all as MP3's at that time? If not, once i go to batch process all these files, can i then save them all as MP3s? I like to save the original raw file as an .aif but once i go to break it up, I can't seem to figure out how to get them all as MP3s (unless i manually do it for each file)

Help!

Hey there Lori. I'm no George Whittam but your answer is in the batch processing. Once you break up those marked files into their own .aif files you're all set. Now, what I do, is create a new folder named appropriately and then have another batch process ready and when you set the save option, you now save the files in the new folder for clarity and save them as .mp3.

I don't think you can save them as both formats at the same time. But you do NOT have to save them one at at a time as .mp3s. The batch processing is so great for this.

I hope I understood your post, but that seems to be the answer. Twisted Wave is awesome and it will allow to make this happen. Let me know if I helped or complete confused you. But no worries, as the answer is on this board. This place is the place for answers and help.

hi andy,
thanks for your reply. yes, i thought it was in the batch processing but couldn't figure out exactly where i could change the file format. played around with it again tonight and if i choose save and then click on the edit within save, it gives me the option to change the file format. that's what i was looking for! so thanks for steering me back to the batch processing --looks like i've got it figured out!

Awesome! Sorry I wasn't more clear! But yes, you have to change the format in which you save them.

Maybe I'm not fully understanding the process with batch processing, etc., but I do this by clicking Markers, Split by Markers, and change the File Format at the bottom of the dialog box. You can get into the Settings... for that and choose whatever your final file format needs to be. Here's a screen cap that shows what I mean.
