Sounds like a great alternative to ISDN and is compatible with most ISDN connections?

Love to hear your thoughts! thanks.

Marko,

I'm pretty sure in my meanderings through the archives here I've noticed a few folks mentioning they use AudioTX. Try a search? It might turn up some useful information. (I mean this in the nicest possible way, which I mention because text sometimes comes across as cold when read without the context of tone and inflection of spoken communciation.)

AudioTX is not an alternative to ISDN. It is a software based ISDN codec as opposed to a "black box" like the Prima or Telos Zephyr. I switched from a black box to AudioTX around 5 years ago and it works fine.

Just checked out their site. Sounds like a really good deal.

I am a bit confused though... It seems you can download the software and then you're left with two choices. Run it through your soundcard over the internet or install an ISDN card and run it through a traditional ISDN line.

Am I close to getting it? Laugh

Not either or, will do both as long as you have the ISDN card and lines.

Banksey,

How is the quality over a traditional phone line as opposed to a dedicated ISDN line?

Have done POTS connections. The BBC use my voice over booth for guests who are unable to travel to the studio and it works fine. If you want to do a test let me have a number and I'll call you , hear for yourself!

Mr. Banks,
Are you running this on the same PC as your recording software or a separate PC?

Do you mean people come to Portgordon rather than go to London?

Same PC as my recording PC.

Yes they do come to Portgordon in preference to going to ....anywhere else really.

Philip,

The after shave for the smell-o-vision spots, no doubt?

Thank you Bob & Banksey! Banksey, I may take you up on that offer of a phone call. Perhaps next week sometime if that's alright with you?
