Ulf and I saw "In a World" in the company of Bruce Miles and Dan Nachtrab (and family). Excellent experience. The theater called "The Living Room" had only 40 seats and had food service - food and drink brought to your seat (lots of leg room, too).

Movie was very enjoyable - would see it again. I'm sure they got some things wrong but overall - it was a hoot! See it if you can find it.

It was a great movie, very funny, and not so wrapped up in the voice business that your non-VO family and friends won't enjoy it.

Yes, it was not a 100% perfect rendition of what our business is like (how boring that could be!) but close enough you're not likely to wince.

All performances were very good (Lake Bell!) and I really enjoyed the performances of Rob Corddry and Demetri Martin.

I give it all digits up!

I'm actually going to head down to the theater where it's showing in Irvine and see it this afternoon. Looking forward to it!

So you don't think it will start another stampede of people running to get their piece of the v.o.pie?

I may be wrong as I'm long in the business, but I don't think it glorified our line of work to the point it will add more wannabes. In fact it portrayed some in our profession as real schmucks. Gasp

I'll second what Bruce said.

I thought it was very entertaining and while I'm not at the same level as what these characters were doing, it was kinda funny to see a few similarities of my life. It only really focused on the "movie trailer" type of voiceover, and since most of my work is stuff most people wouldn't ever see (industrials/corporate/narration), I don't see this as drawing attention to what I do personally.

Was fun to see lots of cameos of people I recognize in there.

Saw it last night and everyone in my group enjoyed the heck out of it. Lake Bell - wonderful! Some things I really wish I could un-see, though, like Fred Melamed's ample um, assets.

I just finally saw "In A World ... " last night too, while I was going through Chicago on my way home from dropping Eric off at college in Nebraska.

For me, this was a flashback to my first time seeing "Empire Strikes Back" in that: a.) Everything that could go wrong with getting to the theater in time did ... and then some; but I still made it in time because I left 45 minutes earlier than I thought I would need. And b.) The place was packed and the only seats left open when I got there were in the first 2 rows of the theater.

In spite of both of the above, I enjoyed it a great deal and will certainly try to see it again if it makes its way to the western half of Pennsylvania or to somewhere in eastern Ohio.

aside: i was at a birthday party over the weekend, talking with the dad of my son's friend, who asked how DOES one get into voiceover? honestly, i blanked out. i had no cogent answer, and felt pretty good about that ...

My wife and I both very much enjoyed it. Fred Melamed has one of my favorite voices, and his performance was stellar. Lake Bell was exquisite, and I no longer hate Demetri Martin. All in all, a wonderul experience at the cinema.
