This may have been discussed before, but if so, I missed it. Just curious about the business. Their current offer says, you can become a featured voice forever for $40 and 'liking' their Facebook page.

Their most recent audition request, at least to me, was headed "Male Voice Needed". It was for a Driver's Training Video. 12 minutes for $140. Another audition that took me back was 40 minutes for $240.

I saw that a couple people on the VO-BB that I recognized were featured voices. And apparently I got listed with them at some point as well, but not as a 'Featured Voice'.

All Star Voices bills themselves as The Radio And Voice Industry's Premier Talent Showcase. I wondered if I'm missing something here.

I don't want to bash them. Just know something about them, i.e., who runs it, where they come from, etc., as they remain fairly ambiguous to me.

Anyone have the inside track?

I'm leery of anything that gives users the option to buy "featured" status. It's just like getting an A+ rating on the BBB. I know nothing about them though...so my input is pretty useless Smile

Robert L Druse. Woodland Hills, CA. Former radio. Until a few years ago, had a company called Kidscope Radio, which ran extracurricular programs for kids interested in a radio career. Domain registered for a personal website, but no content. No demo to be found anywhere, including Voiceover Universe, where he is registered.

That is weird. Curiosity led me to look. I hit "view all" and was presented with 207 pages (of 21 talents per page)... he's got 4,330 talents listed.

Seriously... who signs up for this stuff? It's just another list that is designed to extract (more) money from a VO. I did recognize a few names from the random page selections I looked at. I guess there's an element of FOMO (fear of missing out) with these things... look, there's a list, I should get on it just in case...

Rick, I'm concerned by one thing you said... "And apparently I got listed with them at some point as well" - now, was this something you consciously did, or did they add you after finding your details somewhere?

Apparently I joined in March of 2012. I searched my email to find any communication with them. I believe I was found through LinkedIn. From what I remember, I thought they were soliciting me personally for work they had, not as part of a service. I provided my info but no demo and left it at that. Now, sporadically, I get offers of auditions from them. It's their ambiguity and sporadic surfacing that strikes me weird, which is why I ask. That, and 12 minutes of narration for $140.
