My understanding is this is a community of people with a shared interest in, not a certain level of proficiency in, the craft of voice acting. Happily, those who are here merely to soak up our offered knowledge and opinions (ranging from wise to wretched) keep a fair distance, and that's fine. No one has to contribute.
Since this is a concentration of people with an interest in voice work you will find many excellent and personally useful contributions from those who do post.... and you will also find....... other stuff too. Luckily, with the speedy Internet, and our experiences, we can quickly figure out which posts to pay attention to and which to quietly ignore. Track pads and track wheels on mice are handy little things.

The ability to just talk about voice over, ask questions, and read information from seasoned pros has helped my journey immensely. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for the opinions, guidance, and sage advice given by many of the posters here. I cherish the wisdom of those who have successfully walked the path I have yet to traverse. |

Your premise assumes a lot. I would guess 90% of them do NOT make a living doing this. |
Granted.
It wasn't' an "indictment" of the site. I only found it curious that so many would go to the trouble of joining but then....not post...even once. We are talking..."one little post." That was my point. If any one should complain about it...it should be those that don't post. But wait....they can't respond. ... but wait, there's more!
If you're on-line and glance down at the on-line user info, you'll usually see something like: 2 registered, 2 hidden, 8 guests
Now, granted that not every registered user logs in by default when they come to VO-BB, but I've seen it as high as me and 24 "guests". There are a lot of people who come here without even the inclination to register or post. We are a resource for a lot of people who want info, but either feel that they don't want to contribute... or that they can't. It's a little how I am with Gearslutz. I'm always going there to check something, but don't feel I can contribute to their community. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

That was my point.
You can read all day long without registering (as you have pointed out).
So...I don't understand why anyone would take the time to register to do basically what you can do ....without registering. (slaps forehead)
(Now let this thread - which has long outlived any useful life here - and which I regret ever having started in the first place - crawl up into a fetal position and quietly ...die.) _________________ "I reserve the right to be completely wrong." |

Almost exactly HALF have never posted a WORD.

If you search "stat AND geeks" you'll find additional stats from previous years. New stats should be out by this winter. _________________ "Bailey"
