|
|
In another post George Whittam said of the Senn 416, "...they will last for many years, and can be serviced for infinite life-span."
What would 'servicing' involve and where is the best place to get it done?
Thanks!

What it details depends on your needs. Cleaning, replacement of foam and windscreen elements, verification of electronic components and their performance, capsule repair or replacement....
Best?
Sennheiser USA.
Login through the service portal on their site. Most common non-warranty work is flat rate priced, and, for mics, is done in a clean room environment. And they have a loaner program for mission critical gear.
Worth it. _________________ Don Brookshire

Location Sound in North Hollywood.
Google search. They have a site.
They are a Senny factory service center. Cheaper and faster turn around. With a rental dept to keep you going while your mic is being repaired.
These are the industry go to guys on the west coast.

I appreciate pointing me in the right direction... thanks!
I guess the second part of my question would be, is there a regular service interval, i.e., so many hours of use or age of the mic, with a certain 'regular service' performed? Sometimes things can degrade that you don't notice over time, but compared to a new piece of equipment, there may be a considerable contrast. OR is it one of those deals where, 'if it aint broke, don't fix it'? _________________ Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics

My guess would be that there's nothing gentler on a mic than VO--no being thrown in a run bag, no dangling on boom poles, no rain, wind, blowing sand. Just being in a quiet room sitting all by itself with someone talking in its general direction. For a 416, what a good life that is! |

It took $90 and 3 weeks for the Sennheiser shop on the East Coast to fix mine some years ago....some little electronic bit needed to be replaced.
