My long-time buddy, Scott Pollak, told me you guys are awesome! That's why I joined the group.

I've spent the past two decades working full-time in TV & radio and raising two amazing kids. I finally have the chance to give full attention to my VO business. I would be very thankful for any feedback you give me.

Here's a link:

Thanks in advance.

FWIW

Voice quality is good.

However, I would suggest..Less reading. More acting.

What does that mean? Something that I find myself doing. Pacing should change. Real People don't talk like a metronome.

(the first couple of spots you used were situations. yet your pacing stayed constant. no speed ups. no pauses. no excitement. because of this it was unconvincing)

also I felt you weren't able to maintain your "smile" throughout. (obviously, if you are doing a funeral home spot you wouldn't do this but...) when some of the spots would have benefited from it. a smile heard on a woman is a pleasant thing to listen to.

I also found the processing on your voice a bit harsh. perhaps a little less compression. you seemed to be way out in front of the background and not part of it. (a little "softness" would have been nice on my ears) But that could simple be a matter of taste.

NOTE: This critique is probably useless...and should be completely ignored.

We'll try not to hold your knowing Scott against you. Rolls Eyes

Welcome aboard. For a first go around, not bad. I'd definitely avoid the the soft-voiced croaking in the first pieces. A little bit is OK, a lot is not. Most of those could be improved with more diaphragmatic breathing, giving your voice strength without being loud.

In what I heard I could hear 1,001 different sounds, moods and subtleties all waiting patiently to be given life, to be set free.

Unlock your mind.
Unlock your heart
Let your eyes see
Allow your ears to hear.

When you speak, the real perfection that is you can't be heard. There is a whisper emanating from your hiding place .. come out, come out where ever you are!

Thanks for the analysis. Can't wait to learn and get better. Scott is coming over to work on the sound. And to help build another demo. The price: a bottle of wine!

Our family call Scott ... Snotty. Feel free to adopt this nickname.

No.

Don't.

Seriously.

Paige gets away with it because:
a) we've known each other for about 2 decades and
b) she's darned cute. You guys aren't.
