A while back, somebody pointed out that my posts here were appearing in duplicate. I wondered if there was something about my particular set-up that was causing this, but I have since noticed there are some other people who are also experiencing this same phenomenon. I wonder if there is any way for one of our resident cyber-geniuses to figure out what's going on.
By the way, my workaround to prevent my posts from appearing twice is to click "Submit" and then click my browser's "Back" button immediately after my post shows up. I always get the error message about "You may not submit another post so soon after posting," which tells my the board's software thinks I've posted twice, but taking this step keeps the doppelganger from materializing.
For this post, I am going to skip the above step, so you may see this message twice. You may see this message twice. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I've noticed that when I post via a mobile device, my post will end up duplicated SOMETIMES. I watched it, and it won't actually become two posts until someone posts after me. I'm wondering if it some weird glitch that occurs when you post with a mobile device, and then someone after you does the same. I've never had a duplicate post happen when I post via desktop. |

I've noticed it a bit more often with people who use phones to enter a post, but there's no explanation I know of. As a moderator I can delete duplicate posts and I try to do that when I've got the chance. I also believe you can delete your own posts and if you do just one, the other should stay.

I'm pretty sure that there is a limit to how long you have to be able to "delete your own post."
I think that once someone has posted after you that the message cannot be removed.

Nope, you're right. Us mere mortals can only delete our own posts if no one has responded, and I have found that the duplicates only show after someone posts after the post that will be come a duplicate |

It's a Database foof. I'll have to get serious about arm-wrestling with Corey Snow to upgrade the board to the newer version. _________________ DBCooperVO.com
