(for anyone who has ever dealt with V123's super duper "patent pending" software solution to "fairness" in talent selection)

Here is a copy of a message I just sent to the folks at Voice123.com...

"So...let me get this straight. So far, some "voice seekers" have rated me like 11 out of 51 OR 9 out of 15...and given EVERYONE a lousy "NOT LIKELY" score so NOW I practically get NO invites at all. And NOW you send me a MUST BE BLACK. MUST BE IN NYC. NO SCRIPT...for 450.00? What kind of SICK sense of humor do YOU GUYS HAVE? Since ..I AM NOT BLACK. I AM NOT IN NYC. AND...FRANKLY...I AM MOT IMPRESSED!"

Note: This would actually be a lot funnier...if the Joke wasn't ON ME!

(But hey....whadda ya gonna do?) Laugh

Lee, you must be thinking about a DIFFERENT "Video game audition African American Male_30s. Must live in NYC. No copy provided" Mine says 450.00. But, since YOUR inbox is so full, I can understand your getting confused.

But in mine...yep. There it is. ONE message. Very easy to read. But wait...here comes a new one. Now I have TWO.

The NEW one says.... "bitter old man adventure game project."

(Who says the folks at Voice123... don't read their emails?)

Now THERE'S a project I can sink my teeth into...

Speaking of Voice123...

Last night...some guy there requested "an original recording of an upbeat easy going sounding "amazing grace." I need both an instrumental and lyrical version."

OH? So ALL YOU WANT...is for someone to create ORIGINAL music. Then sing to it...and give you both?

Seriously? That's ALL???

What's even stranger is SOME people actually did it...

Well...those people have got to be NUTS.

Pretty cool, Clutter. Don't know if that was really YOU or not, but I liked it!

Here's my version. (I'm the one on guitar Wink

Yep. That was all me.

(no depths of depravity I won't go to for a couple of bucks. LOL)

I liked your version. (strangely reminiscent of "The House of the Rising Sun"...but then...what do I know) Laugh

Time to paraphrase Douglas Adams...

"The chances of finding out what's really going on at Voice123 are so remote, the only thing to do is hang the sense of it and keep yourself occupied."

The system is ludicrous, a couple of "not likely" ratings or one "will not be considered" can screw you up for ages. This has been raised a number of times both directly with V123, in gripe sessions amongst ourselves and with ex-employees of V123.

There is no hope for a solution. There seems to be no interest in fixing or changing it and the only suggested solution is to buy the mega-premium-gold-plated-latinum version for $1,500 which by-passes all SmartarseCast® restrictions and just sends you everything.

The official position seems to be that if you only audition for stuff you are suitable for, you will not garner any of these bad ratings. That would only work if they bothered to inform the "voice-seekers" that was the case, and about the damaging effect of these ratings. There seems to be no mechanism in place to educate the seeker that these ratings are not just an aide-memoir as he reviews the submissions as opposed to something that hits the talent's permanent record.

Awwww crap. I promised myself I wouldn't talk about P2P stuff any more.

BTW, Cutter... loved the Amazing Grace!

Thank you Bish.

I always include the following disclaimer:

(Please note: I have never claimed to be a "singer." I only play one on the Internet.)

My new marketing strategy is "Try to be so busy that you can't audition for V123."

So, if there are Voice Seekers in the highly professional world of V123 then is it fair to say there are ...

Shouty peeps - Directors
Lensy pointers - camera operators.
Heary Keepers - Sound Recordist
and
Organised Criminals - P2P site owners

+1 on your version of Amazing Grace!

It was original and refreshing.

All the best,

Mac

Would love to hear if you get the gig!

I hope the V123 people somewhere are listening because I believe this is where things are headed for them.. by throwing so so many people together and having them bid against each other on top of it, the quality talent are idesperately trying to find as many ways as possible to avoid the P2P"s..
