Is anyone else using one of these? What do you think of the unit? |

Steve,
Yeah, I'm using one. Let's just say they'll have to pry it from my cold dead fingers. I'd been told how good they were for Vo work but didn't realized how good until I got one. It'll be in my rack forever. Check with Vintage King. They come with a warranty and they recap and service it before ya get it. Let me also add I'm thinking of getting a second one just to have on hand in case this one ever needs a repair. That way I won't be left without one.

Are you guys talking about the one made in the 80's and early 90's? Are these refubs? I hear a lot of good things about the Purple M77, 1176 and others that claim to be knock-offs of the original UA products. Is there a knock-off LA-4? _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

Jowillie,
Mines from the 70's. Not a knockoff but a true Urei. There's the blackface and the silverface LA-4's. As far as knockoff's, there's a ton of gear that's suppose to be a "replica" of the orginal Urei gear. To me, you can't beat the originals. |

Thanks for the feedback. I finally picked one up, a blackfaced LA-4. It's now in the hands of Alcatronics in Boston for a checkup and mod. The mod replaces some of the older components (capacitors and such). It's a mod that comes highly recommended. |
