Once again, thank you all for the advice and insight. It confirms a lot of my suspicions about the "rules" and the subjectivity of it all.
It seems like the general consensus is as follows:
Targeting to the audience (agent, company) and style (video games, narration, commercial, etc).
Make sure it's filled with "youness", because that's what you're selling.
Make sure it's solid and the best you can put out there. Don't put anything out there you don't want heard by anyone.
Do what you feel is best in terms of bed audio depending on the reel you're working on.
In the regards to being demo ready, I've been workshopping (Voicebank Weekend Workout, so far), soliciting feedback from everyone I've worked with / for thus far, remember and practicing my acting training, reading to my wife every night, and making damn sure I practice and record something everyday. Even if that thing is the back of a cereal box. I don't know what else I can do but practice, practice, practice and pray my best is good enough.
Once again, thank you all for the advice and support. Once my current round of separate, targeted demos is complete, I shall ask for your feedback once again. _________________ I'm a Voice Actor. It is rumored I have a nice butt.
