What Bish was thinking, but was gracious enough to not say aloud is, "But while Chuck may be a wiry fellow, Lee most certainly is not." Lips Are Sealed

What size a booth needs to be is obviously a very personal thing. I was not at all excited about a small space so I opted to acoustically treat a rather large room. Like the old cowboy Saturday afternoon movies a few generations back, I want 'wide open spaces'. My mantra was 'Don't Fence me in.' (Gene Autry?)

The downside? A nightmare when it comes to SOUNDPROOFING!

For the last 8 yrs I worked in a 10x14 room that was super isolated from outside noise but was a nightmare to kill reflections ..now I'm looking to move into a 20x20 space lined with bookshelves that's naturally non reflective but has outside noise coming at you from every which way. Two different sets of nightmares

Think long and hard about that move. How we deal with acoustics has become much more sophisticated in recent years... BUT: My introduction to the topic came while reading National Association of Broadcasters Engineering Handbooks on the topic. Ratio of room dimensions can be important. Ideally you would like the three dimensions "to split up an octave." Example: 10 x 12.5 x 16. Having two dimensions the same (20 feet) may make your NEW space a nightmare for acoustics compared to the current space (10x14).

This is all wunnerful input as I will be looking to do just that once we make our move in the coming months. Looks like there might be a finished shed available, OR I might possibly build fresh - but in any event, will be looking to build a space in which I can do both VO and music recording, with the requisite space to record alternatively my upright bass, or a future set of drums. And it's gonna be right next to the aux house on the property where my mom & dad are gonna live....So I wanna do this right. Thanks also Todd for the pointers on the booth dismantling, and DB for the message - I really wanna try n get this apart so that it can be put back together, so in the event someone needs a nice booth, well here tis. And inexpensive most likely (Not cheap, it was Not cheap Smile ) ...but U-Haul-away Laugh

Whereas I cannot WAIT to move into my new 'booth'; my daughter's 10'x12' room in our underground basement. She moves out in a month, and I move down there. An added bonus is no daylight, so I can feel even more isolated from the world than I already do as a v/o dude.
