not MONITORS - monitor. my #2 monitor took a #2 yesterday so pulled out the black friday deal from LAST year, which never left the box, a 22" lg flatron. it looks great - but i'm getting a hum in the 300hz (+/-) range. it's soft very, very soft - but there. any ideas besides putting this one in the kid's room & getting something else?

Try adjusting the brightness up and down to see if that makes any difference. You might also try adjusting the refresh rate.

Is it an LCD or LED? My LCD monitor had that same noise, so I replaced it with an LED. Nice and quiet!

Sometimes there's a refresh rate frequency HZ you can adjust on the monitor.

I'm barely semi-literate in the world of electronics which makes me truly dangerous, but isn't 300Hz a multiple of 60Hz, the standard "hum" of light bulbs and wall fixtures and such? Something leaking juice? Did this happen about the time of your basement flood?

Just typing out loud...

Funny side story: went to a Christmas party at friends' house last week. They have an antique typewriter on display. A fairly bright ten year old kid had no idea what it was and kept asking questions about what it did.
