I've been having a great deal of trouble with clicks, clacks, pops, and mystery whatnots coming from my mouth these past few months. I'm thinking of trying something a little more "scorched earth" than the lozenges and soda water that have sometimes helped me and sometimes... not so much. I'm just not sure what that next level should be. Maybe Listerine and a spittoon in my recording space?

cheers,

Remember: mouth clicks, etc. can be more pronounced when working the mic closely and/or by using too much dynamic compression.

Alcohol will certainly make you care less about mouth noise, which could be a solution in itself.

I had a 15-word job this past weekend and was coming down with a rather unpleasant cold. Feeling stuffy, clogged everywhere, throat a bit sore, the works. I remembered my mom's congestion and sore throat remedy: rinse your mouth with some palinka (Hungarian national liquor. Like rocket fuel with a touch of schnapps). Of course, I never did get around to installing that studio spittoon so I had to swallow the stuff as well. Cleared me right up for about 4 or 5 minutes, plenty long enough to get the job done. For all the obvious reasons, I would never recommend it as anything remotely like a long or even mid-term solution. But as a one-off "I need a minute or two of clear sinuses/throat/voice", you could do a lot worse.
