I had this mixer (1402 VLZ) overhauled and cleaned, so it is ready for the next stage, whatever that is. However, the phatom power no longer works, and I haven't had this mixer in my chain for a few years. As a workaround, which lasted a lot longer than I intended, I've got a M straight to PC/mic. Were I to keep the board, as I want and need to build a chain for my monitors and pre-amp, could I use the M as a phantom power source, and if so, how? Also, I recently got the FocusRite iOS Solo interface, which I have yet to use. (Got it as a back-up in case the M went south). Is that a tool in the arsenal for the chain re-build?
Many thanks.
Update: I found this on the CEntrance website forum, so wanted to make sure I un...der....stand:
Quote: | Do I need to plug my mic directly into the MicPort or can I also use an external preamp?
You can connect any mic-level source to the XLR input on the MicPort Pro, with an XLR cable. |
So I can connect my pre-amp to my M , and my mic to my pre-amp, and my pre-amp to my board ... and I've got it?

What you want is a phantom power supply, available for $30 or so. Don't kludge the M with your mixer. Plus it can't act as phantom power for your mic in the way you might want it to with a mixer. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
