|
|
Hey there,
Since I've ditched ISDN, I now have my first session where the client uses ISDN and not SC, so I need a bridge. On the SC website, I found several bridge services. One of them, http://www.isdnbridge.com/, charges a mere $35/hour if scheduled in advance - but I'm more concerned with reliability than with low cost.
Can anyone vouch for one service over another? I'm a big fan of Dave Immer, my former ISDN guru who also has a bridging service, but his rates are much higher than isdnbridge.com. _________________ Best regards,

I've bridged with Out Of Hear. Steve Nafshun is who you want to talk to,
Very reasonable and rock solid.

isdnbridge.com is a division of Source-Elements, yes? |

I believe they all could get the job done for you. Just a matter of what's available and most cost effective. Source Elements has a list of "bridging partners " on their site. The only one that I've had experience with is Out Of Hear so it's the only one I can vouch for. |

As it turns out, yes! I did not know until someone mentioned it on a Facebook forum.
Thanks for your feedback, guys! I got 3 raves for Out of Hear, and another for isdnbridge (which is much cheaper, fyi). So I went ahead and scheduled a bridge with Steve from Out of Hear. By the way, Steve had a successful ISDN to ipdtl bridge session recently. He is highly impressed with ipdtl. When I find the time, I'll get a license for that as well. _________________ Best regards,

So I just finished my Source Connect-ISDN bridge session through Out of Hear. It went quickly, since it was just a revised disclaimer.
The studio on the other end did experience a few drop-outs on my first take, but my other 2 takes were fine. Now, I had SC on the "high-quality" setting at the time. I spoke with Steve of Out of Hear afterward about it.
Steve says that "medium quality" is actually equivalent to ISDN quality - and that's what most of his talent customers use - and drop-outs are less likely to occur on "medium." He also said to make sure my browser isn't open, since when it checks for new email, that can cause a drop-out. My browser was closed, as well as any other background programs, but to be safe next time I will re-boot before the session AND I will use "medium-quality" rather than "high."
I'm glad that I now better understand "best practices" for a successful bridge, and would be happy to work with Out of Hear again. I'll also try isdnbridge too.
Thanks again for the feedback, folks - it was very helpful! _________________ Best regards,

I'm biased, as I love Steve, and I designed and built his bridging system, but his service is the best He may be antiquated in terms of booking services, but he can handle 4 bridges simultaneously, and supports AudioTX, SC, SC Now, IPDTL, and Luci Live. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
