Hey all, I recently had a thought (scary...I know) that it would be cool if you could actually watch how users interacted with your website, so I went to Google. I found that you can easily do this for free.
Check out Mouseflow.com
Basically, it does a screen capture recording of the entire interaction of someone on your website, including text (obviously passwords don't come through as plain text so these are not captured).
Personally, I find this HIGHLY useful and insightful information. It makes it easy to determine if people are having issues on your website or being frustrated by something and driven away. Mouseflow is free for 100 recordings a month, then you can pay for more. There is even a Wordpress plugin for super easy integration with WP. And recording can be quickly stopped and started, so you can work on the site or check out the site without it recording YOUR interactions with it.
Thoughts? |

Isnt there also some tool that shows a "heat map" of clicks on a page?
That would be useful, also. _________________ www.MarleyAudio.com |

As someone who "consults" for a handful of clients who are using this "tool" to analyze traffic across their sites....
Don't read too much into it....
Remember that a single user's behavior is NOT representative of real world behavior among the larger user base....
In general, the sample size is not significant enough upon which to make informed decisions.
Just sayin'..... _________________ Don Brookshire

Sounds incredibly helpful, I'm trying it out for sure. Sample sized be damned, I ain't got a sample of any kind until this came along, so it's a start! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

And they seem to do it way better...and offer 170 recordings PER DAY instead of 100 per month. I think I'm gonna get that going. I feel way behind the curve now
Thanks for tossing that in DB! You rock! |
