Hi folks,

This seemed like the right place to post this since it's software related. I started a blog entitled, "Pro Tools for VO" which you can access at http://www.pt4vo.com

Enough of us are using it for not just heavy lifting production but also everyday stuff. (I also use Twisted Wave quite a bit.) PT gets bashed a lot, and sometimes deservedly so, but I wanted to create a place for VO folks to get helpful info when it comes to Pro Tools.

There's also a Google+ group of the same name in case you are interested in that.

I hope the Pro Tools users on the board find it helpful!

Anthony

Apple's Logic is a great remedy for all the cons of using ProTools.. it's pretty much a no brainer.. at $199

here's an interesting tutorial on punch and roll in Logic..

Nice to see this blog. As a fellow sucker who is locked into using Pro Tools, I heartily approve. Maybe because misery loves company.

But I'm compelled to ask, Anthony... why no love for Pro Tools Express? I'm hard pressed to think of any likely situation for a v.o. to need all the extra firepower (or horsepower? Horse hockey!) of the full version, and the price difference is pretty steep!

I don't have PT Express. Also, the studios I work with that use PT don't use Express. I thought it best to stick with the version that scales from studio to studio. But if someone wanted to write an article about PTE, I'd be happy to post it.

Don't mind me. I just got my contrarian hackles up when I read this in your blog:

Quote:
I’m not going to include Pro Tools SE or Express here because I think those are lightweight versions that really don’t compare favorably to a normal version of Pro Tools that you would find in a professional studio

I'm skeptical. (and did I mention contrarian?) As long as we are talking about voice overs and not multitrack musical recordings, what part of Express compares unfavourably?

My nitpickiness aside, I am mighty happy to see a v.o.-specific blog on Pro Tools. I think it's a great thing, Anthony!
