Hi Don,
You may have come across this post before here on the site, but it's a great comparison of the 875r and the 416.
It may or may not help you with these two mics, but I found it to be quite surprisingly interesting!

The RE20 will be more forgiving for poor acoustics. Both will sound good for narration. The RE-20 sounds cleaner than an SM7B, to my ears.
I've never had sibilance trouble with an NT1A on my voice or my wife's.
It is a very revealing mic, in a good way, so it won't cover up any issues with imperfections in your tone or control. With some voices, the NT1A sounds fantastic. |
I've found the RE 20 much more quiet and forgiving than the SM7B (had both here for a while)
MKH 416 still needs a good room whatever anyone may tell you. A very particular sound. Never found the lows to be lacking - quite the reverse! _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover

Hey Don!
Long time, no see! I've got a C1, with the Bonnell mod if you want to try it, or a tlm103. Also, while you're auditioning mics, pick up the EV RE320. I've got a buddy out here that actually prefers it to his Gefell M930 ts! Loves it 'on his voice.'***
PM me if you want to borrow my C1 and/or 103…
