Bob, why on earth wouldn't you think you'd be getting the award? Any of us who know your work would be pretty sure of it.

Congratulations... and keep that Tuxedo jacket buttoned!

No one knows who the first is, because he's never stepped forward to claim the title.

Would the most humble guy in VO call himself the most humble guy in VO?

Never.

(Nor would the nicest guy in VO call himself the nicest.)

Circular logic, meet rhetorical question.

Thant's where you're wrong! I never have claimed the title, because I, unlike Bob, don't have the appropriate jacket!!

I think you deserve an honest answer, Rick. Several reasons, actually. First, because the other nominees in my category (Business/Educational) were from much bigger players in the audiobook business. Second, because the subject matter of the book I narrated, while it did fit in that category, could just as easily have been put in the "Inspirational" or "Religion" categories. Third, because I don't think of myself as some kind of superstar audiobook narrator. I'm not primarily an "actor" so much as a narrator or storyteller.

On the other hand, when I was a little boy, my Mom and Dad were in the Salvation Army. So, I have a pretty strong affinity with the material on several levels. I knew I had done a good job with the book, but like everything I do, I sent along the audio when it was done and then moved on to the next project. So, it wasn't so much that I was sure I wouldn't win as that I didn't expect to win.

I hope that helps clarify my thinking.

I was taught to unbutton my jacket when seated (to avoid putting too much strain on the button) but to leave the jacket buttoned when standing; which is what I did all evening.
