Since the subject of LinkedIn (or LindeKin, as we Faffers like to call it) has been brought up in another thread, have you been getting a connection requests like a lot of the ones I get, usually from total strangers, that say something like, "Since you are a person I trust, I would like to add you as a LinkedIn connection."

Well, I'm glad to know I'm a person you trust. Now, please remind me, who the #µ˘< are you? Get Lost

If I dont know the person and only get a generic request, I ignore them. If someone wants to connect with me, they should show it by spending the time to at least write a little personal note.

This isnt Facecrack. I dont feel the need to be everybody's "friend."

I'll usually connect with someone who is legitimately connected to the VO industry or personally known to me (no note required).

I'm actually getting more concerned with the absolute avalanche of Skype connection requests over the last couple of weeks. Nothing for a year or more, and now 20+ requests from, ummm... "young ladies".

This relates to something that bugs me about Linkedin.

Sometimes, when trying to connect with someone, clicking the "Connect" button opens another dialogue box in which I can edit (or completely change) the generic message that Linked supplies.

But other times, clicking "Connect" automatically sends the generic message, with no option to customize it. I HATE THAT!!!

This is why I prefer to send a connection request from the People You May Know page. In addition to the Connect button, there's also a Message icon that pops up the generic "I'd like to add you as a connection" message but is fully editable. The only time I may not send a personal message explaining who I am and why I want to connect is if I am 100% sure the recipient knows exactly who I am and why I'm connecting.
