A production company I work with on occasion put together this spot. From filming to end production, they did it all. If you've ever been close to action like this, you know the camera work is not a walk in the park. I thought they did an excellent job.

I've been working with Beyond Pix for their client Sonoma Raceway for their race season this year. During a session last Tuesday, I just happen to ask Sean Karlin, the producer, if he had a copy of one of the NHRA spots we did. We did four that day and I remember him telling me what they shot to give me the flavor of what we were working with. It sounded cool and I wanted to follow up and see one of them. This is the one he sent.
To me, this was analogous to putting together a demo. Imagine you've got all these clips of work you've done, like most of us do. In this case, you are a 'Drag Strip'. You say to yourself, 'What pieces am I going to use and how am I going to build this to sell myself in the most impactful way? And how am I going to do it in a short amount of time? In this case 30 seconds.' You want to get their attention right away, but you still want to have something to build on to keep them with you. So you can start big, but you have to be able to go bigger. Ideally you'd want the audience to stay all the way through because they WANT to. There can be no 'tune outs'. One piece has to draw you into the next. And not only do you have to do it with visuals, but you have to provide sound to give it life. And you have to match one with the other as you build.
I've put together a lot of demos and this spot just jumped out at me as sheer artistry. Most people don't realize what goes into editing. It can be an arduous process. And it takes someone extremely skilled in their craft to have a vision and execute it like this. He's won Emmy's in the past. He's going to submit this one. It's certainly a contender, if not a winner. _________________ Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics

Thank GOD its not the cliche "SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!" style. Motorsports need to up their game if they want to keep attracting the right market. This is a perfect example of the direction they should be going. Its geared towards a younger generation and has that look about it.

Nice equipment.
Much of this was shot with a hi-speed camera. Very nice. Particularly the one where you can see the tire actually fold up and deform as the power is applied.
NOT your "ordinary" video cameras. _________________ "I reserve the right to be completely wrong." |

Very cool, and it's the perfect blend of audio and visual!
It almost makes me interested in racing...
