Hey everyone, I’m working on these three reads, please give a listen and shoot me your thoughts (good and bad) I have to be honest I don’t particularly care for soccer so that read was a personal challenge of mine. Smile

I really like the make a wish read. Good match for that one. The soccer read is a bit too happy. With the contrast of the pro announcer it does sound off a bit, but you could definitely go there. The violent shows disturb me...so I didn't listen past a couple seconds, can't comment on that one Smile

Good job overall! You've got a good natural sound.

One man's opinion. Worth EXACTLY what you paid for it.

Intimate "make a wish" seemed to work fine.

The others would work. BUT...when dealing with a serious subject or sports (to a slightly lessor degree) it's best to not end your phrases with your voice going UP...but rather I think you would want it to go DOWN. (of course it depends on what you're talking about at the time)

I hope you know what I mean by that. If you voice goes up in pitch at the end it makes "light" of whatever you're talking about. Going DOWN...denotes seriousness and sounds - how shall I put this? - more EARNEST and Sincere.

As I said. Just my 2 cents. (since you asked)

Thanks for the replies. I agree going on a down inflection may have fit the piece better, I was going for a little different but not sure if it went the way I was looking for. ( its good to hear outside opinions ).

I noticed two diction issues. The first was during the phone number in the Make-A-Wish spot: with my crappy, built-in speakers, the ends of the "at" and "eight" sound like glottal stops. I'm not sure how to express that in written format, maybe "...a(t) one eigh(t) hundred..."

The second was what sounded like too much of a contraction for my ear in the American Justice spot: it sounded like "or are" became "or'r."

May just be my speakers. Or that I'm overly conscious of things like that. Or that I'm just wrong.

Thanks Rich, I will go back and really listen close. Its very possible a slight diction error, I self critiqued so much I could be over looking it, that's why its great to hear from others. Its easy to get lost sometimes in your own voice and direction.

It's a sinus click on the 'N' sound of one-eight-huNdred, not a glottal stop. Happens to the best of us. Can totally be fixed in Audition, et al.
