If you have a few minutes, I'd appreciate some feedback on this audition that I recorded four different ways. It's from a job posting on a P2P site, and I didn't submit any of these, I just borrowed the script. I tried to keep the read fairly constant, as what I'm most interested in is whether or not the changes I made to the recording chain and processing are noticeable. Does one sound better than the others? Or are the differences negligible? The only thing that was the same in terms of chain/processing was that the last thing I did was normalize to -3db (this is standard, right?).
Secondarily, how's the read? I didn't take the time to get rid of the breaths; would that be a mistake on an audition I was actually submitting? The direction was, "romantic and confident," if I remember correctly (can't find the post anymore, might be gone).
Many thanks!
Rich
P.S.: When one SoundCloud clip is done playing, another starts. Is there anyway to turn that off? I can see how it might be desirable for a musician putting together an online "album" (for those of you old enough, like me, to remember such things), but it's terribly annoying in this context.

Did you remove the files from SoundCloudy ?
There were not to be found there! _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

Yes I did. Over a month and a half with no replies, so I figured nobody was interested enough to listen. _________________ Cheers,

Sorry to hear about your experience Rich.
Sometimes people here on the site don't want to critique another talent's work, and some do not feel qualified to do so. Depends on how busy some people are and there are many other reasons.
If you re-post them to SC and send me an email, when I have time, I will have a listen and try to help.

Thanks, Mac, but no worries. I realize people are busy, and listening to four very slightly different versions of the same non-audition is pretty low on most people's priority list.
At this point, I've decided on an approach that seems to be working fairly well. _________________ Cheers,

It is not about you, I promise. I have made it a point not to critique, as I am not worthy of judging some of the fine work presented here by VO-BB'rs. Many people here are so much more than they seem, so I chose the better better part of valor - discretion; as my way of helping on the critique section.
Shutting up says a lot more than than making comments. You are good, you do not need accolades from any of us to understand that part. Enjoy being who you are.

Thanks, Frank. Again, no worries, I know people are busy, or don't want to critique, or whatever. In the end, I took George Whittam's advice (or Philip's, or someone's): if it sounds good, it is good. The differences were minor anyway, so either way it probably doesn't make any difference, it was just me being in gearhead mode. _________________ Cheers,
