I'll take option C.... Bad advice.
You have a lot to learn, Grasshopper.
Now, before you get defensive, and accuse me of being mean to the newbie....
Spend a little time browsing the archives. You'll find reams of good information about soundproofing, tuning and taming recording environments, acoustics, microphones, techniques and much, much more.
You'll find detailed photos and descriptions of real studio builds... And helpful tips on how to plan and undertake your own.
But you won't find much tolerance of youtube hucksterism.
After you spend some time in the archives, you'll understand. Til then, work on developing a thicker skin.
In this business, you'll need one.
Welcome. I truly mean it. We were all noobs once, too. _________________ Don Brookshire

Yes, if you want true isolation from noise and at the same time good acoustics it's almost never easy or cheap. There are ways around outside noise, like recording only late at night, etc. but at the upper levels clients are going to want ISDN sessions during the day, and you can't have errant noise making it's way into your recordings. Multiply that $25 by about 100 and you're getting more into the ballpark of reality for round the clock isolation from noise and proper acoustic treatment. |

I tried to make something like this once, mainly out of curiosity. It was a waste of time and money. The others here are correct. To produce professional sounding voiceover work, you'll have to work to find the right combination of equipment, soundproofing and sound treatment. Not everyone can afford a Whisperroom when starting out, and lots of us have recorded some great sounding audio in our closets. (Known as "Studio C" at my house.) But, I suggest you read many of the posts in the archives here to get a better idea of what is needed and I strongly suggest you find a qualified audio engineer to evaluate your recordings to help you find the right sound. |
