|
|
So I quite often sit in my booth and just mess around if I find myself with a little unexpected downtime.
This Sunday, I was waiting for my housemate to get out of the shower so that we could go and get some brunch when I happened upon a beautifully shot video of the town where I grew up.
My mic was on, and I found myself naturally talking away over the video.
I was pretty happy with what I'd just ad-libbed, so I decided to try recording it. I ended up chatting away, doing a total of about 10 takes before my housemate emerged from the shower and I was left with this:

I was so happy that I contacted the guy who shot the original for a copy of the film to lay the track over. It's not perfect (I'm unable to pronounce hard 'B's, apparently!), but not bad for a lazy 10 minutes on a Sunday morning! |

Very nice indeed!
As a child I spent two weeks every summer in Teignmouth just a short distance from Paignton. As the titchiest of lad the ride on the Shaldon Ferry was the adventure of adventures. Three years ago I returned with my best friend by my side and discovered the area to be still full of magic. As I told tales of my youth "bestie" perfected the art of stifling yawns and I pretended not to notice. |

You were inspired.
(I love it when that happens)
And it totally shows.
Well done. _________________ "I reserve the right to be completely wrong." |

Wow.
Just................................. wow.
There wasn't one single thing about that that wasn't gorgeous.
(And I KNOW that music, but I can't place it. It has to be by Thomas Newman, I'm guessing. Anyone know?) _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Beautiful stuff all around.
And Scott, it's a song called "American Dream" by Jakatta. _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

That is amazing! Well done!!
I first remember hearing that song in the film "American Beauty". Maybe that's where you heard it, Scott? _________________ Back into the murky lurk from whence I came

Thanks, all! Wonderfully kind comments.
Philip - Teignmouth is stunning. The Teign estuary is apparently one of the most important natural wetland habitats in the UK. Did you ever take the trainline between Newton Abbott and Exeter? It goes along the Dawlish coast right on the edge of the sea. I used to take that train every morning. Every day it'd be a different kind of beautiful!
Todd - I'd love a drone + go pro. I live in Oxford now, so could capture some awesome Pullman-esque rooftop shots! Perhaps Santa will be kind.
Scott - the music is from the movie American Beauty. |

Beautifuly done. The close talking and whispered tone (dare I say "active hush"?) really set the mood. It was wonderful.
Scott - the music is Thomas Newman from the "American Beauty" soundtrack. The track is titled "American Beauty" _________________ www.MarleyAudio.com |
