Anyone have any thoughts or know of anyone with the new version of the RODE NT 1 a? The RODE NT 1 Kit? I had the original RODE NT 1 and got a lot of mileage from that mic _________________ Lee Kanne

Don't own one but got to try the new NT1 as part of a mic shoot out. It was very nice, and the owner, a top VO Talent here likes it a lot.
Seems to be a good improvement at a very good price. _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

Would suit a baritone; it's VERY bright. _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover

You are probably right Colin, it works well for me (a baritone), and for the guy who owns it (whose voice is close to Rick Riley's voice)
Have not heard it on any female voice talent yet. _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

Here's an example with a female voice. I recorded this spot in my booth on the NT1A purchased new in 2012: https://youtu.be/ZJ_3XUnqBQ0
This was my starter mic and it's served me really well for the last few years. _________________ www.juliaknippen.com

Ah, I had a feeling it might be a different mic. Nevermind! _________________ www.juliaknippen.com

I remember hearing that the newer one/NT1 is not nearly as bright at the NT1-A |

This kind of goes along with my never ending quest to find a compliment to the 416. Ya know, for "Hal Riney" types of reads, longer form narration, etc. Aiming for bang for the buck in the $300-$600 range. I liked the SP C1 until it wet the bed on me.. The Shure sm7b is serviceable, to point. Very. "Broadcasty".
The Rode Nt1kit is definitely a contender along with the Cad e100 and the Neumann tlm102. Those three choices as of now _________________ Lee Kanne

You are right about that. There's actually a Youtube video where a guy tests them both together, back and forth, and you can definitely hear the flatter, more natural response of the NT1. |

In the link I posted above, there's a side by side test of the Nt1 vs U87. Graphically, those two frequency response charts are very similiar _________________ Lee Kanne

I would add the Mojave MA 201 to that list.
It would be in the upper end of the price range but if I remember correctly can be found used in that approximate price range. |

I have an NT-1 and like it. Its a little plosive, but super quiet and nice tone.
I recently switched to a 416 and like that a little better for my voice, though. YMMV. _________________ www.MarleyAudio.com |

I have that NT1A always been great although contemplating an upgrade although more than likely end up going sideways with my purchase! _________________ At one time there were voiceover artists, now there are celebrity voiceover artists. Just curious about any thoughts on either of the B1 mics? From time to time there is a comment about how one or the other sounds "as good as" or "just like" ... . Whatch think?
That was very quiet! _________________ Lynn
