Hello all!

I have two questions...

In your opinion, does a Scarlett 2i2 ( or any other interface for that matter) have a shelf life?
Also, where is great reliable place to order new equipment from?
I had my go-to place back home and need one here!

Hey Noni (I am really sorry about that). The 2i2 should last as long as any other piece of electronics. Everything can fail at the drop of a hat, or it can live for decades. As for US suppliers... there are quite a few. My go-to guys are Sweetwater or BSW (if you are a WoVO member you can a 10% discount at Sweetwater for orders over $300, drop me a note if you want more details).

It was great to see you at Faffcamp... my only regret is that we didn't get to do the Baggy Trousers thing Wink

Hello!

Well, it hasn't failed but I have a had few 'fear' moments so I want back up! I didn't bring all of my stuff with me from home.

I am now with WoVo so details on that would be great! Would you recommend sticking with the 2i2?

I KNOW you were desperate to get up there and sing with me....there will be other times Mr Bishop.

Personally I like two of everything! Murphy's law is real. I use an Audient iD22 as my main and the 2i2 as my back-up & travel rig. I also have an M-Audio and an Apogee Duet (but I just don't like getting rid if kit!). There are many choices in the $150 and under range... or maybe get something like a Shure x2u ... $100 and it's a good travel unit and a backup for a failing main unit.

I'll drop you a note about the Sweetwater deal.

Yes, I'm the same and usually have two. I worked on an Edirol for years and had the 2i2 as a spare but the Edirol started doing weird things like flat lining even on quiet input Exclamation

Interface gear should work well for a lengthy period of time as long as the drivers are updated. My Fast Track Ultra and Echo AudioFire both bit the dust because they stopped updating the drivers.

The factory drivers for the 2i2 aren't bulletproof, but have been substantially updated in September 2014. The glitches I had with mine went away once I updated it. This is the link for the update:

I purchased my Focusrite on Amazon. After much research, they seemed to be the cheapest. Also, I know that Amazon has great customer service (in case their was an issue with the item when it arrived)
