Sad to report one of my idols has died.
Stan Freberg was 88.
He was a ground breaking humorist, satirist and comic -- who really created his own category.
Was very successful in advertising and animation.
Did a lot of work with the great Daws Butler.
I am sad today.

Oh, my. So sorry to hear of Stan's passing. A true genius.
The Radio Advertising Bureau thought so, too. Here's his classic "Whipped Cream" spot extolling the virtues of radio's ability to create vivid mental imagery.
RIP Stan. You will be sorely missed. _________________ Mike

The first real radio production job I ever got was from answering an ad which read "if you can think like Freberg and keep it clean...".

"Paul Puma" is one of my most favorite cartoon characters. Stan was an amazing talent. Emmy winner, Grammy winner and 24 Clios. Wow. _________________ www.MarleyAudio.com |

We grew up listening to his material, and we still quote some of his work around the house and studio. I think if it hadn't been for him and the guys at Firesign Theater, I wouldn't have gotten interested in voice acting. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Going back to the radio days when a special production would make it's way on the air. There is now way to explain how great that was. _________________ Lynn |

I do not like this trend that 2015 is following.
