On Saturday I'm in Asheville doing a VO teachy thing.

In order to benefit from my several minutes of wisdom one is expect to pay $100 BUT ...There is the option to "audit" my class for $50! Mmmmmmm.

Here are the T&Cs

As an auditor of the class the attendee is not officially in attendance.

Anyone attending my class paying the "audit" fee is not allowed to learn anything. Should they learn anything they are contractually obliged to either (a) Forget it, (B) Not use the information or (C) See (A) or ((B).

Saying "Hi" to me personally on a personal basis is $11, additional phrases $4.75 each but at no point should Elephants be mentioned.

Anyone wishing to buy my book will have to wait until I write it.

No one is allowed to know that I personally endorse the Neumann U87 as "The Voiceoverist" mic as no one cares.

I tried that in a restaurant once. It seemed like a nice place and I wanted to see if it would fit nicely on my short-list of local go-to restaurants. I offered them 50% of the bill as an audit fee. They were less than impressed with my business logic.

Seriously, I thought the whole point of an audit, was to review a class to get a feel for it and see if it satisfied your requirements. If it does... sign up for the next semester... if not, then no harm done, no money wasted and everyone is happy.

Auditing a one-off event seems to be... well, (and I hate to say it) a last-minute discount offered for an under-subscribed event to get bums on seats (and an egregious misuse of the language).

But then... you knew that (hence the post) Smile

Apparently, Philip's trousers opted to audit the course, rather than go for the full participation. Sarcastic

They're vegan Lederhosen! SO 2015! As opposed to "mmmmmmmm 75% polyester AND buy one pair, walk quickly and never have to charge your cellphone again"
