Hey folks:
I am as guilty as many of you surely are... we're taking our conversations to Facebook and LinkedIn Groups more and more. It's a momentum that is very hard to fight. I'm going to try something. When I am about to write more than a 1 sentence response in a FB Group about a specific topic of interest (mainly tech-related in my case), I'm going to take that response and the discussion leading up to it and bring it here. I'm then going to post a link to the discussion on VO-BB on Facebook and say "If you want my thoughts on this, click here".
What do you guys think about this? It just really bugs the shit out of me that all of our energy and experience are being locked away on Facebook, where they can't be stumbled upon or searched for from Google, and therefor benefiting a lot fewer folks. And, all that content belongs to Facebook, not to us. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I think it's a good idea. I am guilty of coming here less frequently and spending MUCH MORE time on the ACX Narrators group an dthe RX4 group and the like but I have been at this for a few years now and doing ok. When I was brand new at this, the VO BB was an invaluable source of info for me. I'm sure I was not alone. _________________ It can't happen if you don't at least try. |

That makes a huge amount of sense to me. There are at least a dozen different forums for VO on FB. Who the heck has time to go through them all? OK, the underemployed do, but that's another topic.
All of the major voiceover disciplines are covered here in one place. This can be the home for one and all and, to my thinking, should be. Heck, Faffcon was spawned out of here.

I'm off Facebook, so I'm onboard with this notion!
I just need to lurk less, for a start. I have noticed a dwindling number of engaging topics though.
Will try to play a part in the resurgence... _________________ www.mattcowlrick.com |

Facebook is soooo 2000. Seriously, facebook is a locked in environment similar to the 90s AOL world. Old and it's not as robust as bb's or even the new instant chats. But hey, I'm an old fart. |

I totally agree with George. Just no posting pictures of what you had for dinner. And none of those "Name a Vegetable That Doesn't Have an 'E' In It" quizzes, please. Now, where's that "Like" button?

One of my new years resolutions was to do away with superfluous posting...maybe the things I have chosen not to comment on should decline This year's new years resolution: Split the difference. |

Sounds spiffy! And thank you. I lose track of the fact that FB is unsearchable.
Of course, I may not have been saying much that is notable in the past few. . . increments of time. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Two sites I visit daily...
VO-BB
Find A Grave
... it works for me, and Find A Grave has a very low floor level. _________________ "Bailey"
