In a month or so, I'll be needing a new host for my website(s). A quick search of the archives reveals that this question hasn't come up in a couple of years, and things in the online world tend to change in that much time anyway, so I'll ask again: who do you recommend for web hosting?

My needs are fairly simple. I'd like a service that's reliable and economical and will allow me to have multiple (maybe 5-10) domain names. I had planned to go with the hosting offered by my domain registrar, Dotster, but the online reviews I saw for their hosting seemed universally poor.

I've been with WebHostingHub.com for a few years and they've been solid. I've never been down, I have 5 domains on the one account and they have stellar customer support both via phone or online chat. I think they are running $4.99 a month (paid yearly at the intro rate, then $6.99 after) and that gives you 25 subdomains. Their hosting is now on SSD as well.

I have my domains with Name.com and have never had issues with them either.

I had a terrible time with 1&1 and when I tried to migrate away from them they tried to steal my domain. I'm also not a big fan of GoDaddy...from a taste standpoint Smile

But I did just notice that an add-on domain and a subdomain are different things Smile I'm no web guy LOL. My account was created when they offered unlimited add-on domains, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage. Now their basic package gives you 2 separate sites. The next package ($2 more a month) gets you Unlimited sites. They also give you a free domain...I would assume it is just one domain but it's something Smile

I've been using www.newtektechnologyservices.com for about 15 years now and the very few times I've had a question they've been quick to answer and help. They seem to do all the things you're asking for and more.

Lee, I've been with Pair (www.pair.com) for probably 10 years or more, and they've been great. They're NOT ultra-low cost but they're not really expensive, either, and the service and support has been great. I've probably got a dozen domains hosted there now.

Hostgator.com here -- for the service we pay for, we get unlimited domains.

I use Squarespace for audiobookblast.com. It's great if you need design and building tools.

I've been with GoDaddy for about 10 years (maybe longer). I've had some support issues with them. They tended to reply to emails not based on the actual questions I asked but what I'd put in the subject field, thus requiring even more emails to get the answers I was looking for. But they "solved" that problem by doing away with email support completely.

Beyond that, they've always been responsive and helpful... especially since my site was converted to Wordpress six years ago. I like Wordpress because I didn't know enough about site building and code writing; Wordpress itself is free, free tutorials help you learn how to use it, themes/templates are abundant and very reasonably priced, with it it is very easy to create and administer a site, and there are many plugins available to allow you customize your site and any functions very easily.

For those who already have a Wordpress site, I highly recommend the Bullet Proof Security plugin for site security.

Wordfence is also good for security on WP sites.

As usual on these threads... I recommend and use Squarespace. Do a year in advance and get your free domain name registration as well. Mine costs me $8 per month (actually $7.04 because I had a discount code when I signed uHobo Happy.
