Lately my s's are S's. They have been getting much harder. I need to work on my 'mouth' naturally. I have never used a de esser. Has anyone used spitfish? What do you think?

I'd love to try it, but sadly it's fossilized... It's only available for 32-bit Windows or C OS X, and the developer is adamant that there will be no updates. I do have a Win32 laptop, but I do all of my editing on a Mac that was made in this decade.
If you use Audacity, I've just found this de-esser and I'm a huge fan:

The isolate mode is very helpful. It will show you only the noises that it's filtered, so you can be positive that it's dialed in just right. Free, simple, easy, and effective. _________________ John Roorda

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Until then maybe I won't use S's in my text. _________________ Lynn |

I've been checking and testing the plug ins and I'm liking them more and more. _________________ Lynn |

What DAW are you using, Lynn? REAPER has a fairly strong de-esser, although sadly SPITFISH is the one that recommendations always come back to.
An engineer told me a little while back the software that the digitalfishphones guy went on to work with, but I can't remember now for the life of me what that was. Can dig up the recommendation if that's any help? (the de-esser in that tool is a spiritual descendent of SPITFISH) _________________ http://kevinpowe.com

I am still using the free audacity DAW and the link mentioned above takes you to the discussion about it. All I do is VO and sometimes simple music or sounds are added so there has no pressure to use anything else. _________________ Lynn |

I can't get Spitfish to work in Audacity. It's possible I'm doing it wrong. I use the de-esser here http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Plug-ins
It always comes out a little harsh for me, but at least I know its doing Something. Spitfish seems to not affect my tracks at all. _________________ http://www.paulstefano.com |

Try this link and see if it is a better and more up to date file
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=79278&p=245549]
It's the link from earlier in the thread.
The files are at the end of the forum.audacityteam.org post.
Be sure you save them to the Nyquist Plug-ins. And do you have the latest version of audacity?[/url] _________________ Lynn |
