Hi everyone,
I'm just about finsihed with the studio here in my house. I just looked and noticed that only one pic showed on here. I just added them to photobucket and made a slideshow so I hope they are all visable now Here's a few pics. This one is a converted bedroom. The black squares are easily recognized as the famed and fabled "FURALEX" The panels you see on the doors and walls are acoustic panels taken from the walls of office cubicles. The desk is also an office cubicle desk. Cost for the entire thing (acoustic panels and desk) "FREE" I added some rubber mats that I cut to shape to fit on top of the desk, They were originally supposed to go on the floor as anti fatigue mats. They do a great job of taking out the reflections off the desktop. The panels behind the monitor are also cubicle panels and are there to break up all that corner space.
The boxes that are on the floor under the desk are: the one on the right holds my computer and the one on the left holds my sparse rack gear. I made those out of MDF and carpet and added some casters. Total cost to put both of them together was around 75.00. That includes the wood, carpet, casters, and rack mounts.
The anitfatigue mats cost me about 15.00.
The Furalex was about 65.00 so all told a studio on a shoe string of near 150.00 and lot's and lot's of sweat... the important thing...it works...and until there are sacks and sacks of money on the doorstep it will work great. And of course don't miss the water feature (really more of a dust feature right now) on that table.

Congrats to a budget-friendly solution that does the trick as well! You might want to consider doing one more thing... treat your ceiling with some acoustic absorbing material directly over your head and make it 3x5ft or something like that. It captures the remaining 'early reflections' bouncing off your speakers towards your listening position (hotspot). It will definately improve the stereo imaging when in mixdown.

Thanks Edo....there is the same treatment on the ceiling too. I just didn't take pics of that..

Very nice, GP! It's nice to be able to get ideas from what others are doing with their spaces.

I have to admit you didn't fool me, though. I spotted the un-mounted Furalex in the chair in that last photo. Smile

yes I have to admit. I am raising furalex....but only for my own personal use. you know strictly medicinal and stuff.

GP, great set up. It is either a really nicely sized room or you were using a wide-angle lense. I am envious.

My resident Furalex™ doubles as the "studio manager"...or at least he thinks so.

I'll have to post a pic.

BTW Gp - I see the RE-20 (PL-20) by the mixer...what's the mic in the corner?

Great setup! What kind of arm is holding your flat screen stand up monitor? Is the music you record your own or do you have a group? Does the lollipop mic have a story?

There's nothing more productive than getting your "studio" set up where you can work with it. I remodeled two years ago and it has really made a difference. I like how you have a place to sit and stand. I prefer to stand, so I built my desk to British Bar height. Smile
