|

Oddly, my go-to recording a (Amadeus Pro) suddenly won't record or playback. Input/Output source settings are correct (USB Audio Codec). Nothing moves--no levels and won't playback any files I open.
I launched Twisted Wave (back up a ) and no problems at all. I contacted AP support and posted something on their forum but all i'm told is to repair Disk Permissions and Reboot but that doesn't work.
Any suggestions? _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Yep, Yosemite.
AP developer checked my Console output and says it looks like one of my Audio Unit plug-ins (Vintage Style Preamp) is broken and causes havoc when trying to load it. However, I can't find any plug-ins with that exact name.
Sent him a fresh console log and waiting for updates. _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Updated to El Capitan and not can't get audio input for Twisted Wave either!
I've got input/output set to USB Audio CODEC. Mic-->Preamp-->RME ADI-2-->USB Phono pro-->Mac mini.
Tried rebooting, zapping PRAM, etc. _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Using version 10.9.5 here and no problems with either TW or Amadeus Pro.
Why not try using your toslink cable directly from your RMI and using the Digital in option to the mac mini ? _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

Up to about 6 months ago I was using Toslink to connect an RME ADI-2 directly to Mac-Mini's optical inputs/outputs, but was getting intermittent static in recordings.. George Whittam pointed out that there's a problem with Yosemite and Toslink connections to Mac-mini and recommended a USB audio interface in the chain, i.e. an ART USB PhonoPlus. At first, it worked like a charm! But recently Amadeus Pro just stopped working--no audio input or playback. But bought Twisted Wave and it worked fine. But then after the El Capitan upgrade, neither work! So, went back to the direct Toslink connection and only TW works (though still get intermittent static!). So, not sure where the problem lies. Buggy USB Phono Plus? An OS upgrade that still isn't playing nicely with recording a s? Some other plug-in/software conflict?
I'm going to borrow a friend's USB Scarlett 2i2 and see how that works and run tests. Very frustrating! _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Just posted this on another thread but worth an update here:
I was just consulting with a guy at Gearslutz and he said the Art Pro USB Phono Plus is class compliant so should work well without any additional drivers in El Capitan as it doesn't require any special support (as opposed to other audio interfaces with dedicated drivers by vendors). Drivers for such standard USB audio devices are part of the system from OS X 10.5 onwards IIRC. He advised I switch USB ports and checked HW and SW settings. So, I plugged it into a powered hub instead of the Mac-Mini itself and, for some reason, Twisted Wave is working again, at least for now. Not sure why simply switching USB ports would make any difference at all.
So, no need to rollback OS X or get a new audio device for now. I'll monitor and report back if something else goes awry. _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |
