I booked my flights today so will be in NYC from lunchtime on 4th Dec until early evening on 6th Dec (depart for KFC airport post afternoon tea)

I find myself as excited as I get about anything. Yes, I almost smiled earlier. Almost.

We may have everything pre-arranged (for those that didn't see it on Facebook). It's the annual VoiceOver Cafe pre-Christmas mixer (we sort of took over where Erik left off). All are welcome!

Not saying I'm coming, but it's been a while since I've been to the big city and I'm wondering what's the difference between flying into Newark or JFK for a short stay?

Both are close to Manhattan... both have pretty quick public transport links into the city. Whatever you do... for the sake of your sanity, don't use LGA.

Those American Airline brothers (Dave and Dave) are responsible for my ride to KGB and then I shall make my way to an hotel, Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park, 1717 Broadway. The room rather like Dave and Dave's 777 is at altitude.

My intention was to hold court somewhere with a view to revitalise the flagging careers of several Voice Talents but unlike most "coaching" in the colonies with me there is the gravest of risks that "students/actors" may learn something of value and leave deeply disappointed. For this reason I have been underwhelmed by offers to host my educationalising extravaganza.

For tax purposes I need to be working in some way or other to make the trip deductible and so if there is anyone who would like to have an individual Insult with me to take their c'reers to the next level I will make myself available for $1 per session, payable in cash. For $150 I am prepared to behave like one of the top LA coaches and say nothing of any value but leave you impressed by my intuitive skill and classically designed trousers.

I've "done" both Newark and G&T, can't say I noticed any real difference. First/Business Class lounges equally underwhelming. Staff everywhere would prefer to be doing something else (in fairness to them I get that). If you're friendly, upbeat, understanding and take a moment to engage, these poor downtrodden servants of the flying masses never fail to brighten up.

"Any chance of an upgrade" I asked the girl at BA check-in. She rolled her eyes and looked at the screen then burst out laughing!

"You ASSHOLE!" she shouted. I was a 1st Class passenger at the 1st Class check in counter.

The commute to and from either airport seems ok. The choo-choo from Pencil Station to FYI is fabluss. Perhaps that was because, as far as I could tell, neither Melissa nor Liz were driving the train.

Should this review be on TwitAdviser ?

AND, rather than landing amid the engaging flora and fauna of New York's Jamaica Bay, you'll instead wonder if you'll be touching down on the equally lovely New Jersey Turnpike. Either of which may cause you to fondly remember your in-flight meal. Sarcastic

You can get away with saying that! If it were me, I'd find myself dumped unceremoniously and the side of the road... heavily bruised... in a very suspect part of town!

General info for everyone... never EVER criticize a New Yorker's driving ability. If you are worried, hang on tightly and just remember that there are very few fatalities caused by collisions with yellow cabs or busses. Remember... it's the jungle, and any sign of hesitation or compassion is a sign of weakness. You will be trampled and devoured!

I had intended for the weekend to be entirely social, but if it will help you with the Inland Revenue, I will be happy to avail myself of your Career Leveling Service™ for a buck -- a pound, even.

Me too. I have a professional question you can answer when you are here to validate the trip to HMRC.

"What microphone do you recommend?"

I know that's a difficult one and you may want time to think about it, so I though a heads-up was appropriate.

Lee, be careful with your generosity regarding the pound. It's $1.53 at the moment... but early in December it could be as high as $1.55 or $1.57!
