Before I was blessed with this studio, I was in a bedroom and my booth was a walk in closet. I too had worked in radio stations with Stand Up Production Rooms, which is where I got the idea as well. So to test it out, I just got some cement blocks and jacked up my desk to standup height. Really liked it, so I got a drafting chair and never went back.
When I moved and the new home had an out building of a 4 car garage, I took the right third and am just finishing up making it into a studio. I went to a cabinet maker, told him the height I wanted and he gave me a very simple but very effective desk. I can't tell you how happy I am with this new arrangement. _________________ Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics

I'd give Amazon a call. They might, I emphasize might, do something for you.

That Aspirus looks pretty nice, however; as the guy was typing in a standing position I could see the monitor moving around. That would drive me insane. |

Yuk!!!
The desk looks flimsy & the video was awful (let's not even mention the VO). It took ages before it talked about the actual product... prior to that it was all about some aspirational lifestyle where you deserve this product... even the name is more about lifestyle than practicality. Oooh goody!!! They have an a ... I wonder if it will integrate seamlessly with my Fitbit (sarcasm alert).
Maybe I'm the wrong target for this pitch... even though I am actually contemplating a standing desk. For $700 I can do a lot better... from manufacturers who are more interested in form & function than warm & fuzzy. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Simple, cheap, non-permanent solution:
1 - Figure out how much higher your keyboard needs to be when you stand. (Here's a great height calculator)
2 - Do the same for your monitor
3 - Go to a home goods store and buy two boxes/frames/pedestals/crates. etc., whose heights match your measurements from #1 and #2
4 - Go home
5 - Place the smaller box (or whatever) under your keyboard
6 - Place the larger one under your monitor
7 - Stand up
8 - Work _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

nice calculator! I'm about 6 days from outfitting my new booth. This will help take out some guess work. |

Hmm. Looks okay. But I agree with Bish - it looks more than a little flimsy, and the video kinda killed it for me. It turned into cliche bingo.
Also the "focus light"?! Blergh!!!!! |

Haha, true. They do take themselves a little to seriously in that video. Interesting concept though...and yes, the focus light....I think this will suit some hip-creative design agency in San Fran _________________ At one time there were voiceover artists, now there are celebrity voiceover artists. I can picture it now...
"Fredulence, please! You know not to disturb me when my mood light is on. Must I bring this up at the weekly sharing space again?!"
"You're right, Mercutio. I'm ever so sorry. I was only going to ask if you wanted anything from the mung-bean stall..."
"Oh...well..bring me a small latte (soy, of course!) and a hempseed bagel, and all is forgiven..." |
