i only bring this up because i know there are a lot of photographers in the family.
i have been in the market for a wide angle lens for my canon 5d mkii & 60d for a while now, but $2,000 for a canon "L" series lens was slightly out of the budget. i started looking at options and did a lot of research on Rokinon. after much back & forth i pulled the trigger.
my rokinon 16mm f/2.0 arrived yesterday. the build quality is excellent - metal body & mounting ring - the long focal throw is awesome & it just feels really nice. it is available in canon or nikon mount.
i compared it a/b to my canon 24-70 f/2.8 L II - at nearly 5x the price - same settings & distance from subject - nothing fancy - just the driveway - all i did was swap the lens - and was surprised to see that i actually gained a stop - maybe a stop & 1/2. it's super-sharp - no vignetting - or distortion - and at $300 it didn't break the bank.
the only caveat is it does not connect to the camera body electronically - so focus & aperture are 100% manual --- which is ok with me because that's how i shoot most of the time anyway. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Sweet! Manual is always cool... it shows your fingerprints. _________________ "Bailey"

Why does this go hand in hand? You are, absolutely right. I'm a photographer as well. I shoot for fun, but I also run a video camera each week as a volunteer for my Church.
Is it just the creative mind, needs to find more outlets? _________________ http://www.paulstefano.com |

Yes, this is all very nice, but how does it work with a Sennheiser 416?
