For submitting voice tracks in very discrete stereo, or for accompaniment by resident border collies, perhaps? _________________ Mike

This is the West Coast MKH 416 booth, and the other is the East Coast U87 booth?

It's a strategy to ensure I am bi-coastally optimised. I can waste time on specific audition sounds so that the folks in LA are able to ignore my trailer/promo sound and in NYC they can find new clarity in my unfathomable British accent.
Hoorah and hoozah! From now I won't be getting twice as much work as what I used to was.

Anoraks on!
So. I had a room used by the former Mrs Banks to store her crafting stuff. I got builders to do some repairs, painted, stuck stuff to walls and then bought a cheap laptop, installed SoundForge and the added a Roland USB audio thingy.
Recorded this in the "Stunt Booth". https://soundcloud.com/philip-banks/new-booth-test
The mic is a 416 so sounds different to the U87 but other than "difference" I can't hear anything wrong with the set up. |

that's a seriously angled 416….
I can't for the life of me eliminate "P's" on the 416 without a windscreen . kudos to you... _________________ Lee Kanne

Mirror the line, (slope, angle) of your nose and ensure it is about an inch above the upper lip and NEVER say PUH! |

thank you for the tip, Sir.. needs some tweaking, mostly with distance and adjusting mic gain, but it's nice to be free of the dreaded pop filter in a tight space..
even passed the "OCCU-P-ATIONAL" test... _________________ Lee Kanne

That's the angle of my 416. I point it at the bridge of my nose.
Lookin' good there, Mister Banks. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Sadly I am not photogenic and so never manage to look anything less than one who has a Full-Time Psychiatric Support Worker just out of shot holding a Taser, just in case. |
