Usually, when reading scripts written by someone who's at least had considerable experience in writing, it's fairly easy to grasp the context and do a decent job on the fly.

But what about when the writer admits he or she doesn't know what they're writing about and, in the process, provides a verbal amusement park by complicating already tedious material with either far more words than necessary or by (accidentally?) leaving words out?

Is it possible to achieve a good read when the script is a polysyllabic minefield; when you're stopping within virtually every paragraph asking aloud, "what on Earth is he/she talking about?"

Is pre-reading and marking-up scripts considered old-school these days? Should I really be attempting this stuff cold and being OK with the result being "good enough?"

This is actually a fun post to read...love the visuals you created.

But to answer your question. No, when faced with verbal vomit I print and mark.

This is the only time I print anymore! In a session when things get changed I have to type on the fly but sometimes it's easier to go the old fashioned route. Glad I'm not alone, Connie.
