Hello All,

I recently got a new demo made with an animation track and a commercial track. Now I am looking to have a website made. I managed to find a family friend who not only has years experience designing websites (even VO websites), but he is also going to do my website for free.

He has asked me what I want to have on the site besides my tracks. I have looked at so many websites from folks here and others outside of the forum but I have no credits to share on my resume (which is more theatrical right now do to lots of acting experience as a teenager).

So I guess what I'd like to ask is what should I have on a beginning VO website?

Contact info of course
my theatrical resume perhaps?
a bio of myself?

Oh, one more thing. If anyone has the time to hear my demos they are listed on voicebank.net under my agent's name, Actors Etc. My name MARY MORGAN is under Animation, Character - Women and Commercial - Women

A former VO agent I spoke with said the background designs on the website should reflect my voice but I don't know what to use.

I'd appreciate it if some folks could listen to the tracks and let me know what kind of themes they hear in my voice so that I might have something to tell my website designer about what to create in the background.

Take care all!

KISS is a good design rule, especially for relative newbies (Keep It Simple Sister). If your resumé is light on VO and all you're promoting is VO, maybe you shouldn't include it. If you have a good photo and it's in line with your voice that would be fine. Maybe you can create or solicit a great quote or two about your abilities and feature them on your page "Mary is a sprightly and versatile voice", "A delight on stage and behind the mic"...that kind of stuff.

Basically, think of your website as your talking business card or VO portfolio and nothing more for right now. Let them hear your voice and guess the rest.

Search the Memberlist here and visit every single web site. Then bookmark all of the sites you like, even if it's just a small design on the site. Go through the chosen sites with your designer and point out the things you like.

The most important piece of advice I can give is to make it look as professional as possible. Perception is everything. The look of your site can actually tip the scale in your favor.

These guys are right on the money.

Visit all the websites you can find from members here and take the best of what you see.
Go with what appeals to you, and keep it simple.
