Looking for advice. I am having trouble thinking of what to write in my own profile for places like Voices.com, voices123.com, etc. I even paid the $300 to be a member of Voices.com already. All the other voice actors I see, everyone has all this experience already. They have stuff like "Worked for 10 years in radio" or "professional theater actor" or other really impressive, relevant stuff. What if you have zero experience except for your voiceover school? Why would anyone hire me, instead of someone with many years of experience in radio, TV, on top of a long list of various other VO work? As a matter of fact, right there in my VO school textbook it specifically states "Don't say you're right out of VO school. That just proves you are totally new and inexperienced." So I feel really stuck.

I guess the advice that I'm really looking for here, is how do I flesh out a profile about myself in a way that makes anyone want to trust me enough to give me a shot, even though I have zero paid experience?

Say nothing. Let your demos speak for themselves. You'll find a number of the profiles are actually quite perfunctory. The truth is that nobody cares. Bios on webpages or profiles have nil to minimal impact on securing work. No one is not going to listen to you because you don't have a self-serving bio.

Anyway, that's my two cent's worth Smile

Number of times I have found people's bios in a playbill interesting: 0.

Number of times said people have given fabulous performances: lost count.

Nobody reads first. Everyone watches the video or listens to the snippet. I think the exception would be to try'n check your geographical location.

I agree nobody reads it...but it does play a part in what jobs you are sent for audition. I would recommend just talking about your voice and what kind of projects you COULD be used on and don't worry about the sections that talk about what you've done in the past. They will hire you for your fitness for their project (mostly based on your audition), but you get auditions based on your profile...the algorithms can't analyze audio.

But do take some time to read other profiles and listen to their demos.

I have read some profiles filled with words to describe the voice that are simply not reflected in the demos.

Don't oversell. But do include key words for things that you do well.
