This is not uncommon. You are dealing with creatives that have a credit card. Voices is the line of least resistance and the card statement clearly identifies to their accounts/expenses people what the payment was for. If the creative goes to accounts to request a new vendor be set up in the system (W-9, 1099, etc. - and all systems are not created equal... some are mired in bureaucracy) then they may get so much kick-back that it's just not worth their while... and in all honesty, expensing a $1200 job is far cheaper (to them) than spending $1000 after having to deal with Doreen from accounts to get it all sorted out.

He who controls the petty cash, controls the company.

Thanks for those additional data points. I guess one other thing I have been overlooking is the opportunity to pick up clients that result in repeat business over time, so the number of auditions don't necessarily tell the whole story...

I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a paid member to respond to a direct, private invitation, as long as you're not one of those who removed his profile entirely.

You're right Lee.

This I know. Plus it still gives V.com the opportunity to collect their piece of the pie when this happens. I was only marginally surprised to hear from them. But, here is a client that I've ALREADY done business with before directly....invoiced them...gotten paid...etc.

But...whatever. We ran it through V.com as requested.

When it comes to getting paid... "I ain't particular."

But, I did find it ...curious. Gasp

While on the V123 topic...does anyone know if they're going to have a black Friday deal. My e-mail is clogged with Black Friday "deals" from VICES dot bom, but I haven't received anything from V123 about a Black Friday deal.

That's probably because VDC is actually in a world of financial pain and needs more people to sign-up because customers (on both sides... talent and "seekers") are evaporating as fast as politicians' promises. Their roster is becoming devalued by the day... and V123 may actually be picking-up talent jumping ship from VDC.

Right, Bish...I get that. I was just surprised to find I missed a recent 1/2 off deal for V123 because I was assuming that was going to be coming around "Black Friday Time." I just hope I haven't missed out entirely on getting a discount for membership at V123.

On the "north of New York" subject, the last time I looked the Statanic site had around 43,000 people registered as Talons. Today it shows over 50,000. People appear to be unLeaving. I suspect most of those registered are SuchAvoice coaches or Bill DeWoop.
