I'm sorry for being thick, but what does all this mean? I read your post twice and didn't get it. I went to the Black Lion website http://www.blacklionaudio.com/digi002_review.html and read a review there, and am still no wiser. What is this upgrade, how is it implemented, and what does it do?

Jim

Thanks for the great testimonial! I'm so happy for you. Glad to hear that the glue wasn't doing anything too important before it gave up!

Thanks for that info, Mr. Genus. You are saying the DigiDesign 002 plus the Blacklion mods will give you the A/D PLUS the decent preamps to meet your standards? That is awesome. ....and the cost is equivalant to using 002 plus good preamps?
Did I hear there is a 003 coming out soon?

Since the time I've had my unit upgraded it appears they've added Mboxes as well.

Kevin,

This is really interesting. Thank you. It seems that the clock modification has a lot to do with the improvement you're hearing (at least as I read their site); which suggests that the mod they do to the original Mbox isn't going to show the same kind of leap in quality.

Bummer.

Bummer.

Amy,

However, I don't mean to suggest the upgrade wouldn't be worth the price. The cost to upgrade an original Mbox is under $200, a very modest amount of money for what still seems likely to be a significant gain in quality.
