Not sure if this has been posted here (couldn't find it when I did a search but then my search terms might have been wacky) before but I was helping a Chicago VO find where to purchase down in the Atlanta area and we stumbled upon this map of road and aviation noise Sound Map US You can plug in an address or a zip or a city and it pops up with the noisy areas in raging red!
It most definitely confirmed what's been happening for me with regards to O'Hare (GRRR! Darkish orange for my neighborhood) but also helped her figure out where she and her husband should look for land in the Atlanta area. And it's kinda cool to see the approach and takeoff patterns of airports.
Hope this is helpful to others! _________________ Pam Tierney

So if my address shows a colorless map, I must live in a dead zone or a graveyard. _________________ "Bailey"

Very cool Pam!
I am one house into the lightest noise area (the orange). And I have noticed a bit more noise from the air over the past couple of years. _________________ Playing for a living...

Interesting! They have the busy roads here but not the railroad tracks. While they don't bother the booth they do make our office shake. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

This is awesome!! I wonder how they gathered all the data.
Although, living in NYC, it only tells me what I already know - IT'S LOUD! |

Ah, yes. I LOVE my double-pane windows and IAC audiology booth. Can't hear the jackhammers at all in that thing. _________________ www.melissaeXelberth.com

I don't think they did "gather" data. It appears to me that this is not the result of measuring actual noise levels, but rather, was calculated with an algorithm based on proximity to typically noise-generating features in the environment, such as highways and airports. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
