|
|
For those of you who know me you also know that I do not especially recomend shotgun microphones for voice over.
However, recently I have been playing with a new toy the Aputure Deity which could easily replace the MKH-416, which I use for film shoots. Many people consider the Sennheiser as the "industry standard" for voice over shotgun microphones. Personally, I don't believe there is such thing as an industry-standard.
The Deity is impressive, even when compared to the 416. The Aputure has a 50 20000 kilohertz frequency range the mkh-416 is 20 - 20000 kilohertz. The microphones are the exact same size. Yes, the sound is just a little bit better, with the mkh-416 a tiny bit warmer when working at a distace. Other than those features the only difference is price, about a $600.00 (USD) difference.
I am not making any money off of this review of the microphone but I will say this I'm impressed with the Deity. So, with all of that said if you really think that you need a shotgun microphone to "make it" in the voice-over business, pick up an Aputure and save $600.00.
Once you have tried it let me know what you think of your sound. I think you'll find yourself liking the Aputure Deity.

There's some price matching going on. B&H Photo Video just dropped their price to $359.
If you're interested there are several tests and reviews on YouTube.

I have been lurking. Sometimes I have little or nothing to say; so I don't.
It's rather smart of me to say nothing don't you think?

Frank, it's always nice to see you back here. I'm trying to visit more often than I have been lately and I hope you will do the same. |
