My ikey audio RM3 recorder is failing me and need to get a new backup recorder for sessions.
What are you using?
What do you recommend (coming out of an Audient id22).
Thanks voice peeps! _________________ www.moosevoice.com |

I just back my whole computer including my external media drives to an external hard drive at least twice a day (using Mac's Time Machine a ), so there's always a second full copy of what I've done right there.
Sure in the olden days, 10 years ago or more, a lot of us had DATs or other devices recording simultaneously, but the quality of today's electronics is so good that I'm thinking the chance of a catastrophic failure like you're preparing for is close to nil. I've been doing this for 16 years now on my own equipment and never lost any audio, ever.
My opinion, just back it up the easy way and don't worry.

thanks mr. meister!
I like to record simultaneously in case I have computer problem, etc.
It's just how I am (and one of the 436 reasons I'm on anxiety meds). _________________ www.moosevoice.com |

I also favor a non-computer backup recording for long or extra-important jobs. Doesn't take catastrophic equipment failure, just a piece of software that stops recording or freezes and game over. |
