The purpose of this question is to find out what kind of connectivity people have in their studios these days. _________________ Genus |

Well, this ought to clearly separate the "haves" from the "have nots". I'm happy for those that do!
I have nothing, btw. LOL |

Same here - I'm strictly an MP3 gal at the moment.
I've been hearing more and more about VoIP technology... possibly an alternative to ISDN? My ISP (Earthlink) is offering what appears to be a decent package deal - one major advantage of which is *simplyfing* our phone service. I'm really tired of writing 3 checks every month. End of rant. >^_^<
Anybody have experience with VoIP? |

Just found the VoIP thread in the "Gear" section - on my way back there to read more... |

I think I read this too fast and too wrong, early in the morn wid no coffee...
I put "digital hybrid" because I'm on cable Internet.
I don't have real time connectivity with clients, however.
No ISDN, no phone patch, nuttin'.
Please make another category for "I'm a plonker" - UK folks will know what this means.... |

The non-technical merits of ISDN with a codec. It pays the bills.
The financial benefits of VOIP as a voice over artist.
Total income from VOIP sessions since May 2002 = $0
I would seriously encourage those looking for a bigger market share to look a what will generate revenue today as opposed to what may generate it sometime, maybe, possibly ....
Here in the UK there are VO's with ISDN studios connecting with local commercial radio station. The average fee per comercial is around $35. Live sessions (no editing or sending audio) around 15 minutes apart some are regularly earning $600 per day. Any VO earning more than $100,000pa without ISDN feel free to dismiss my ramblings. |

Just because you don't have a studio hookup - you think of yourself as a plonker? Why, that's just a load of old cobblers!

No, I meant I'm a plonker for not filling the form in correctly... not because I don't have bells and whistles! I've never lost a job yet because I didn't have ISDN.... |

Applying the same logic, I've never lost a job yet because I wasn't Julia Roberts. Neat combination of "ya don't know what ya don't know" and "you can't lose what you didn't have in the first place". |

I don't know if I've lost jobs because I didn't have ISDN, but I've definitely lost opportunities to audition because of that. And I avoid potential clients whose websites indicate their VO is available from around the world via ISDN, since that doesn't include me. |
