I felt so left out until this weekend when I got my bogus inquiry and offer too. The way I found this thread was to search for two off the mark words that all these emails seem to use, copyrighted and perfection.
My sender was a peter11donald at gmail.
How do I send sidewinder missile back by email?

I just got a come-on from the exact same email address. And it's been months since the earlier scam attempt. Do these scammer accounts ever get shut down? _________________ Andrew Fogarasi

Their grammar is also horrendous. |

Thank goodness most crooks are dumb enough to be avoided or caught.

The scammers use bad grammar on purpose.
It helps them waste less time, since it filters out people who are less likely to fall for their pitch.
They figure that anyone who's still willing to take them seriously despite the poor grammar is a better mark. _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

Help a noob out (and I really mean a NOOB). How do you identify that this is spam, aside from the aforementioned bad grammar?
Thank you kindly. |

You may not be able to tell right away with some scams. This is why we post information on the ones we get that ARE.
In this case, they have truncated the email to bare bones now and it would be difficult to tell. The fact that it has bad grammar doesn't necessarily mean a scam - I have international clients for whom English is not their first language and communication can be difficult.
But if they say things like you get to chose the studio in your area and are offering a ridiculous amount of money for a weird project - then it is likely the overpay scam.
Never never never agree to pay a sub-contractor out of money you are promised. And even getting paid by PayPal is not a guarantee - that money CAN be reversed after it gets into your account.
If anything seems strange - post it here and let the borg help you decide if it is a scam or not. _________________ Playing for a living...
