Ever wonder what happens when you are a tad uncomfortable suggesting script edits to your client? Wonder no more!

Something got lost in the translation from the original Korean.

I dunno Bruce. Could be the original script was in Flemish and the Korean version is also salad doggerel word thing adjacent! _________________ Andrew Fogarasi

"The organized state is kept as they are!"
Nice find, Foog. I can just imagine the thought process of the talent who recorded that delightful script. To keep my faith in our profession, I've gotta believe they suggested a proper translation and were told, "No, just record it as is." A true "hold your nose and cash the check" situation! _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

Having done more than one job where the non-native speaker client insisted on a line or two "as is" in spite of grammatical/lexical errors, I feel her pain! The part I find most fantastic is what a surprisingly fine job she did with the text that she ended up reading. Even at its most nonsensical, she delivers it with every bit of cheery conviction and momentum that (one assumes) she would give more coherent copy as well. _________________ Andrew Fogarasi

What a delight! Our gal doing the speaking there was quite organized.
And +1 to Bruce for the "Original". _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Fully satisfying was that my anti-static radial design was so much!
Surreal in that on one side of my brain I STILL liked the product while the other side was agog laughing at both the copy and the product itself.
A long-gone instruction manual quote for some damned 80's thing that used floppy disks:
"Be sure to save data to disk. Then format disk first." _________________ SoundscenesDC, main talent and production offices just 385k km up the gravity well in LuNoHoCo Center, old satellite studios still bookable at the future site of Johnson City! |
